The Meadows during the demolition of the 1970s

This page shows pictures of the part of the old Meadows that I grew up in, as it was after most of the residents had moved on. The pictures are concentrated around the area of the ROF, or The Gun Factory as we knew it better.

These photographs were found in a rubbish skip somewhere in Nottingham and by coincidence came into my family's possession. I have no idea who took the photographs but I hope they don't mind me using them on the site.

Rutland Road from it's junction with Midland Cresent. By this time most of the houses are empty. Ours was the last house on the left side of the road	Rutland Road in the final stages of demolition, November 1975. That's our old staircase to the left of the red van.
Kings Meadow Road seen from the junction of Midland Cresent. In the distance are the main gates of the ROF. To the right of the picture is Gingles shop.	Middle Furlong Road seen from the junction of Midland Cresent. In the centre, on the right was another set of gates to the ROF.
Newcastle Road from the junction of Midland Cresent. We lived at No 6. On the right side of the road is Berry's beer off.	A view of the back yards on a typical street in this area of the Meadows. The outside toilets and coal houses can clearly be seen.
